The Hostel

The Wayside Inn and Hostel is a destination which provides unique and budget-minded accommodations for travelers. Journeying on a budget need not be a stark and uncomfortable experience, and indeed it is one of our goals to purge this misconception. The Wayside Inn and New Paltz Hostel provides an inviting, interesting and fun atmosphere for a price which is fair and reasonable for all.

We are open year round with the exception of limited availability during the winter season, at which time it is typical for our family and staff to embark on their own travels.

The usual stay at the Hostel is between one and five days, dependent on the schedules of our guests. The maximum stay is limited to two weeks.

We are located on Main Street near downtown New Paltz, and are next door to the local bus station which features fifteen daily trips to and from New York City.

We are also within walking distance of many area attractions, such as the State University of New York at New Paltz, historic Huguenot Street (the "Oldest street in America"), and a bevy of fine eateries and unique shops. We are also, minutes by car, from world-famous rock-climbing on the Shawangunk Ridge, hiking, mountain-biking, camping, the world-class Mohonk Mountain House and Preserve, and picturesque Minnewaska State Park. The area surrounding New Paltz also features many family-oriented activities including minor-league baseball at Dutchess Stadium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades.

The Hostel offers shared accommodations, as well as private rooms. We provide the linens, a fully equipped, self-service kitchen, internet access, coin-op laundry, a pleasant and interesting staff, and most importantly, a degree of community and human interaction not found in more traditional "motel" or "hotel" facilities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are NOT allowed within the Hostel proper. Our spacious porch, overlooking our Koi Pond, has receptacles for the outdoor use of tobacco, but this is the only exception. There are staff persons available during our 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. office hours to handle booking, registration, information on the area, or to explain Hostel rules. We require, above all, that guests wish to enjoy a friendly and fruitful experience with fellow travelers from around the world, in an environment where all ages can enjoy the fun.

The Hostel offers WiFi throughout the facility, and an Internet Connected
computer for use by those guests that do not have their own.

Pricing
Overnight: us$27.00 per night in a shared room. Male, female, and co-ed dorms are available. There is a 12 a.m. curfew for all shared rooms.

Private rooms (Queen sized beds, private bathroom, bunkbeds for families, etc.) and special family discounts are available. All are subject to availability; please inquire. There is no curfew for private rooms and a key will be provided.

One or two persons in a private room: us$27.00 to us$87.00. Three to six persons: us$81.00 to us$140.00 (based on room size, not season).

Prices include the use of the fully equipped kitchen; common room with free internet, games, books and more; bed linens and towels; free local phone calls; and access to a sunny front porch for relaxing. Enjoy our garden, Koi pond, and other features as well (NO FISHING!). Payment can be made by cash or credit card.

Reservations are strongly advised.

Please note that the hostel is closed during the day--from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Except for private-room guests). For your comfort, a midnight curfew is in effect in all shared rooms.
